Mason Jar Spill-Proof Cup

There are a lot of things that can make parenting challenging, and worrying about spills should not be one of them. This alternative to the traditional spill-proof cup will save you money, while functioning just as effectively for your child!

What you will need:

  • Mason jar with lid
  • Drill (with drill bit size that will fit your straw)
  • Rubber grommets (can be purchased at any hardware store in the nails and screws section, bring along a straw you plan on using to ensure it fits)
  • Straw (disposable or not)

Directions:

1. Wash all supplies thoroughly with soap and warm water

2. With the lid on the Mason jar, slowly and carefully drill a hole through the top. I did this against a piece of scrap wood. The edge of the hole may be jagged, and if that’s the case, clean up by gentling using the drill bit around the hole, like a file.

3. Slide your grommet in the drilled hole. Slide half in first, and then slowly slip the rest in.

4. Remove lid, pour in your child’s drink, replace lid, insert straw and drink up!
