Time is a cherished treasure when you’re a mom, and if you get some time alone, it’s important that you dedicate some of it for yourself! Here’s list of ideas for a do-it-yourself spa night will ensure that not a moment is wasted while you relax and give yourself the extra special attention that you deserve, our list was inspired by the Unplugged Sunday blog!
1. Pour yourself a drink. Choose something that helps you to unwind.
2. Light some candles. Candles can make your experience feel a little more special, so light however many it takes to best relax you.
3. Turn on your favorite music, something that soothes and relaxes you.
4. Take a long shower or bath. This night should be set aside when you have plenty of time, so take as long as you want.
5. When washing your hair, give yourself a scalp massage. You can even give yourself a simple deep conditioning treatment by leaving your regular conditioner on for extra time.
6. Exfoliate. Choose an exfoliant with an aromatherapy scent for an extra boost of relaxation. Scrub your entire body down to your toes.
7. Hang out. Read a book, practice yoga, focus on your breathing, or rest your eyes. Do whichever activity will bring you the most peace.
8. Focus on your face. Wash, exfoliate, apply a facial mask, and moisturize like there is no tomorrow. The hustle and bustle of everyday life can really dehydrate your skin, so moisturizing is a very important step. It can also help to prevent wrinkles. If you want to go the extra miles, place cucumber slices or chamomile teabags over your eyes to reduce puffiness.
9. Tend to any other self-maintenance that you might need. Maybe you need to pluck your eyebrows, trim your fingernails, or paint your fingernails.
The most important step of your spa night is to simply relax! This night is all about you, so leave behind any stresses you may have and enjoy your alone time. Have your own relaxing tips for a night in? We’d love to hear all about it in the comments below!
These are great ideas, but I have no memory of my “DIY Spa Night In” after step #1. Perhaps that step should be moved to the back of my list next time I’m lucky enough to have a night to myself. That, or I need to stop pouring my wine in a Big Gulp cup
Well it sounds like you needed some wine therapy Jessica, I hope you get another night off soon! Sometimes even if I don’t have the entire night to myself, I’ll still take a long shower to exfoliate, moisturize (Lush has an amazing in-shower moisturizer!), and deep condition my hair (I just leave my normal conditioner on for longer). Thanks for sharing with us and keep up those spa nights!
