Whether it’s a fireplace, an intricate coffee table or even a television set, every living room needs of a focal point. Once the focal point is established, it is important how you arrange the remaining furniture around this piece, so that it can be admired from all angles.
It’s recommended that larger furniture pieces be added in first, since these will form the basic shape of the room. These sofas or loveseats should be situated around your focal point. Smaller accents, such as side tables or ottomans can be added next to flatter the larger furniture. Your room should include enough seating for six to eight people, however it should not be difficult to move about the space.
Lastly, you can accessorize with your choice of art work, house plants, etcetera, and keep in mind that you may want to add these elements in such a way that will compliment your focal point.
