Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we have ways for you to celebrate, no matter how little your sweet Valentines are, or how much time you have alone with your very first Valentine.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day with the kids, pack a picnic and head to the park!
Visit Hermann Park’s new Centennial Gardens while enjoying a picnic and letting the kids giggle and run. Climb around and all over the waterfall, on the 30 foot mound… explore the many paths and visit the family garden.
If you have time for more fun, walk across the street to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, or to the rest of Hermann Park. Ride the train, rent a pedal boat, feed the ducks or visit the Houston Zoo!
To celebrate with your first Valentine (the one you knew before the kids arrived) visit Downtown’s Historic District.
Surrounding Market Square Park, the original location of City Hall and the center of the city, are restaurants and bars with inviting porches and patios. Hop between the bars without worrying about highchairs and baby wipes.
If that is too slow paced for you and your Valentine, rent a B Cycle from Market Square Park and cruise around Downtown and the nearby bayou trails! You won’t need to worry about baby seats or kids in tow… just enjoy the ride with your sweetheart!
To celebrate with your Valentine, but without a babysitter just stay up late!
Get the kids to bed and have an at-home date. Dress up nice, serve a special dinner, eat by candlelight, make the effort to stay awake and spend some time together!
If your Valentine is up for it, try making dinner together. Get your hands dirty by rolling up some Spring Rolls… or something you may not eat when the kids are at the table!
Modify the date to make it work for you, just do something different than the rest of the 364 days of the year!
